Jobe Stewart led from start to finish to claim his first career Super2 victory at Mount Panorama, in what proved a pivotal day in the hunt for the title.

Stewart was in devastating form for Erebus Motorsport, with the reigning Super3 champion finishing just under 13 seconds up the road from second-placed Max Vidau.

Kai Allen crawled home with an ailing Commodore to finish down the order, with Zach Bates the biggest winner after a late power steering issue robbed Aaron Cameron of crucial points.

Eggleston Motorsport managed to turn around Allen's battered Commodore after his qualifying shunt, and the reigning champion lined up 15th on the grid.

Image Racing also completed an engine change on debutant Bailey Sweeny's Super3 Commodore after not participating in Boost Mobile Qualifying this morning.

Stewart got the jump from the outside of the front row as Brad Vaughan lit up the rears from pole position and was swamped by those starting on rows two and three.

Vaughan, Vidau, Rylan Gray, Lochie Dalton, and Cameron went five wide into Hell Corner, with Cameron scything his way up the inside to go from fifth to second with one of the moves of the year.

Dalton ran off into the gravel at the start and was sent tumbling down the order, whilst Stewart and Cameron gapped the chasing field.

Allen immediately dropped to the rear of the field with a an engine drama, and nursed the car around for the entire race in order to score whatever points were on the table.

Allen's cause would be helped when Jackson Rice limped his Commodore back to the pits after whacking the wall at Forrest's Elbow.

The fight for third became the centre of attention as Vidau and Vaughan bumped doors at Hell Corner on lap six and ran side-by-side up Mountain Straight, Vaughan with two wheels in the dirt.

Vidau then thumped the wall at The Grate, and was lucky not to hit the wall on the run to McPhillamy Park whilst gathering up his moment.

Vaughan then went for a bold move down the inside at The Chase, but locked up and went sailing through the grass, dropping from fourth back to seventh behind a charging Bates.

The Walkinshaw Andretti United driver had charged from 13th on the grid after suffering a tyre puncture during qualifying, and was all over Jarrod Hughes for fifth from lap six onwards.

Cameron's sensational move at the start was all for nought as it turned out, as his power steering let go across the top of the Mountain with a handful of laps to go.

Cameron would eventually finish behind Allen as a result of his failure, with the gap between the two in the championship only extending by three points.

Vidau remarkably avoided damage after his brush with the wall to match his personal best finish in second, with Tickford's Rylan Gray claiming his first podium finish in third.

Jarrod Hughes was next, followed by Bates, who has now closed the points gap to Allen to 78 points. Vaughan, Campbell Logan, Dalton, Jordyn Sinni, and Jonathon Webb rounded out the top 10.

Allen finished in 16th outright, two laps down on race winner Stewart, passing Cameron on the last lap as he limped around with no power steering.

There was late drama in Super3 as Thomas Maxwell crashed out of the lead on the last lap at The Cutting, allowing MW Motorsport teammate Cody Burcher to score the victory in 13th outright.

The Dunlop Series returns for Boost Mobile Qualifying at 9:15am AEDT tomorrow morning, before the final race of the weekend at 4:05pm AEDT.
