David Reynolds has been left to rue a costly error that led to his demise during Boost Mobile Qualifying at the Repco Bathurst 1000.

The Team 18 driver lost his TRADIE Beer Camaro through The Esses, slamming head-on into the outside wall and leaving the team with a big job to turn the car around.

It's the second time in two days that the #20 has had a moment in The Esses, after Warren Luff miraculously escaped without any damage after spinning through The Esses yesterday.

Reynolds wasn't the only driver to come unstuck at The Esses this afternoon, as two-time Bathurst winner Will Davison had a heavy crash on the entry to The Dipper. Reynolds, like Davison, was cleared at the on-site medical centre.

After being released from the medical centre, a dejected Reynolds explained the incident on the broadcast: "Yeah I'm fine, more than fine actually. I'm just really angry that that happened.

"We're pushing the limits, and every now and again that happens, obviously I'm not as skilled as Luffy, he saved it yesterday and I crashed.

"I'm pushing really hard, obviously it's qualifying, my car was getting better, and I probably shouldn't have stayed up it that lap because the tyres start to go away and the car gets way more skatey.

"I probably should've put the next set on and go, I was probably pushing too hard for the condition, and I got bitten bad."

Team 18 is set for a long night rebuilding the Camaro for Practice 5 tomorrow morning at 10:05am AEDT, which will be a co-drivers only session.
