Supercars is pleased to announce that the Gen3 prototype Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and Ford Mustang GT have been sold to a private collector.

The sale was facilitated by Young Timers Garage (YTG) with the new buyer to take possession of the first ever Gen3 Ford Mustang prototype and Gen3 Chevrolet Camaro prototype prior to the Penrite Oil Sandown 500.

These historic vehicles, completed in 2021 by Triple Eight Race Engineering and Dick Johnson Racing respectively, played a pivotal role in the development and testing of the Gen3 era machinery.

The Camaro, with Supercars chassis number SC-001, and the Mustang, with Supercars chassis number SC-002, were sold in their original liveries.

Supercars CEO Shane Howard said: "These prototypes offer a rare chance to acquire vehicles that symbolise the evolution of Supercars racing.

“We received significant interest over the last three years about the future of these prototypes and are thrilled that the new owner is very excited to be collecting these historic Supercars in the coming days."

The prototypes were instrumental in testing both prior to and during the introduction of the Gen3 era, contributing to the aerodynamic parity confirmed through wind tunnel testing in North Carolina in December 2023 and January 2024.

Shaun Baker, Founder of Young Timers Garage said: "YTG is very proud to have brought this incredibly unique opportunity to market for the very first time.

“The new owner is very excited to receive their slice of history over coming days.”
