Supercars has confirmed Dunlop’s Hard tyre and an intermediate wet tyre will feature at the upcoming Repco Bathurst 1000.

In event regulations released Wednesday, including the weekend track schedule, Supercars confirmed the event tyre allocation, headlined by a change from 2023.

The 2024 event will be held on the dry Hard compound, which was used at the season-opening Thrifty Bathurst 500, producing closer racing than last year's Bathurst 1000.

Last year’s Great Race was held on the Soft tyre, leading to higher degradation, marbles off the racing line, and tyre management.

This year, teams will have access to 52 Hard tyres (13 sets), 40 wets (10 sets) and eight intermediates (two sets).

The 10 sets of wet tyres are from the same wet compound used at the 2023 event, and throughout 2024.

The intermediate tyre, dubbed the ‘hard-wet’, is the older specification Dunlop wet compound which was used before a new softer compound was introduced in 2023.

The hard-wet, still used in the Dunlop Series, is only permitted for use in the race, but affords teams the option of an intermediate tyre should there be adverse weather.

The Super Soft compound will be used at the Penrite Oil Sandown 500, with the Soft returning for the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 and VAILO Adelaide 500.
