Bailey Sweeny to make Dunlop Series debut
Rising star to steer Image Commodore at Repco Bathurst 1000
21-year-old challenged for TCR Australia title last year
Bailey Sweeny will make his debut in Supercars machinery, with the rising star securing a Dunlop Series at the Repco Bathurst 1000.
Sweeny, 21, will race an Image Racing Super3 VF Commodore at Bathurst in October.
The young driver will steer the VF Commodore that Tony Auddino raced at the Perth round earlier this year.
Sweeny is no stranger to Australian motorsport, fighting for last year's TCR Australia title for HMO Customer Racing in a spirited battle with Josh Buchan.
He has had a quiet 2024 to date, racing in the likes of the RX8 Cup, and now gets his Supercar chance.
Sweeny tested the VF Commodore at a Phillip Island test day on Tuesday, with the Bathurst round now just seven weeks away.
"I am very excited to announce I will be racing Super3 with Image Racing at the Bathurst 1000,” Sweeny said.
“It has been a bit quiet for myself in the motorsport world but we have been working hard behind the scenes. I have been racing a few categories throughout the year.
“I have just wrapped up an awesome day of testing at Phillip Island. The VF Commodore was an absolute weapon and I learnt lots of new things.
“I feel like we are in good shape heading into Bathurst and I can’t wait to hit the track.”
Sweeny joins fellow Super3 drivers Cody Burcher and Thomas Maxwell, with the Dunlop Series to resume at Sandown next month.
