  • PremiAir Racing now the centre of attention

The final makeup of the 2025 Repco Supercars Championship field has become clearer after a frantic three days of driver announcements.

Seats at Team 18, Dick Johnson Racing, and Erebus Motorsport were all snapped up in a dramatic 72 hours that began when Mark Winterbottom announced his bombshell departure from Team 18.

Winterbottom’s social media statement late on Tuesday afternoon was quickly followed by an official Team 18 statement confirming Anton De Pasquale’s impending arrival from 2025.

Team 18’s statement paved the way for DJR to announce the high-profile acquisition of reigning champion Brodie Kostecki at midday today.

DJR’s announcement was half of a unique simultaneous driver announcement, as Erebus Motorsport confirmed that Cooper Murray would slide into Kostecki’s current seat next season.

The recent spate of driver news now means that 20 of the 24 seats have been officially filled as of time of publication, with two seats at each of Brad Jones Racing and PremiAir Racing officially up for grabs.

At the team owners press conference on the Friday of Tasmania SuperSprint, Jones stated that he did not foresee any changes to his current driver line-up going forward.

That would mean that Macauley Jones and Jaxon Evans are both likely to remain alongside the already confirmed Andre Heimgartner and Bryce Fullwood in Albury for 2025.

There is much more intrigue surrounding the two PremiAir Racing seats, with both James Golding and Tim Slade off contract at the end of the season.

PremiAir have an extremely strong engineering group led by Ludo Lacroix, and their status as a Triple Eight customer team would also be attractive to free agents.

And there are plenty of free agents to choose from, most notably Mark Winterbottom and Richie Stanaway who find themselves on the outer from Team 18 and Grove Racing respectively.

Incumbents Golding and Slade will also be making strong cases to stay on, whilst PremiAir Super2 young gun Cameron McLeod could make his claim in the enduros.

Whilst the biggest moves of the silly season have been made this week, there is certainly the potential for another surprise to be sprung before the season opener next year.
