New Zealand ranks 121st for population size in the world, yet continues to punch above its weight when it comes to sport, particularly motorsport.

Kiwis have dominated touring car racing in Australia, combining for 19 Bathurst 1000 wins and 11 ATCC/Supercars drivers' championships.

A total of 14 different Kiwi drivers have won 231 races, led by modern-day stars Shane van Gisbergen and Scott McLaughlin. Van Gisbergen won three titles and three Bathursts, and McLaughlin three titles and one Bathurst.

The legendary Jim Richards won four championships and a whopping seven Bathursts between 1978 and 2002. 'Gentleman Jim' was revered as one of motorsport's greats at the time, and that legacy has only grown in years since.
