Will Brown, Brodie Kostecki and Cam Waters have recently made starts
Van Gisbergen planning on getting drivers to make cameos in 2025
Shane van Gisbergen is keen on getting Supercars stars to make more NASCAR cameos in 2025.
The Supercars legend's path to NASCAR began in 2023 off the back of a stunning debut victory in Chicago, with Brodie Kostecki also competing against him at the 2023 Indianapolis road course race.
Tickford Racing star Waters made two Truck Series starts last year, while Waters and Brown competed at the Sonoma Cup Series race in June.
Supercars champion Brown revealed late last year that he is eyeing two Cup Series starts this year. There are a number of road course options that don't clash with Supercars rounds, namely Circuit of the Americas (March 2), Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez (June 15), Chicago (July 6), and Portland (August 31).
Van Gisbergen, who won three races in last year's NASCAR Xfinity Series, is currently embarking on his first full NASCAR Cup Series campaign with Trackhouse Racing.
Speaking ahead of his Daytona 500 debut, van Gisbergen revealed he is trying to put a deal together to bring a Supercars driver across to the NASCAR Xfinity Series this year.
When asked about options, van Gisbergen said: “There’s a few of them.
“Cam Waters wants to do some more this year. He was pretty decent in the Trucks. Will Brown. Brodie Kostecki. There are a few guys.
“The Xfinity races — I’m trying to get one of them to drive in the Kaulig car, it would be awesome.
“I’d love for more guys to come over and try it. There’s some really good, talented drivers there. I’d love to see them come out here.”
Van Gisbergen also believes the likes of Kyle Larson and Kyle Busch would do well in a Supercar, with the latter reportedly close to a deal to race at last year's VAILO Adelaide 500.
“I would have loved to see how Kyle Busch went last year in the Supercar,” said van Gisbergen, who qualified 26th of 41 for Monday's (AEDT) Daytona 500.
“It would have been very difficult, but I’m sure if he took it seriously he would have done really well. Hopefully that happens this year.
“There’s talks actually Kyle Larson might go and do it. Yeah, I’d Love to help them if they have any questions. I’d be really interested to see how they went.”
Supercars action will commence at the pre-season test day at Sydney Motorsport Park on February 19, and Thrifty Sydney 500 - Opening Round on February 21-23.
