Jack Smith seals racing return with Enduro Cup drive
Smith took a year out of racing after stepping back in 2023
25-year-old will share SCT Camaro with Jaxon Evans
Jack Smith will make a surprise return to Supercars with Brad Jones Racing in 2025, partnering Jaxon Evans in the Enduro Cup.
Smith, who stepped back from full-time Supercars racing at the end of 2023, will share the #12 SCT Motorsport Camaro with Evans.
It reunites the two drivers, given Evans partnered Smith at the 2022 and 2023 endurance races.Evans took the reins of the SCT Chevrolet after Smith moved on, and returns for a second season this year.
In a bid to get back up to speed, Smith will add Trans Am into his racing schedule in 2025, with further details on that program to be announced in due course.
Smith will get his first Supercar laps at Wednesday’s pre-season test day on Wednesday.
“It’s a good feeling to be back. I’m really quite excited to get in the car again and regain a feel for it,” Smith said.
“I went to a few races last year and worked with Jaxon and the team so I have an understanding of where he’s going with the car. We work really well together and it’ll be great to race with him again.
“It’ll obviously be a bit different now that I’m the co-driver but there hasn’t been a lot of change since I left and we should have a good foundation to build from this year.”
The announcement leaves one vacancy in BJR’s four-car Enduro Cup line-up, with Declan Fraser and Jordan Boys already locked in alongside Andre Heimgartner and Macauley Jones.
New Super2 signing Brad Vaughan has been tipped to join Bryce Fullwood in the #14 entry, with Vaughan to make his competitive BJR debut in Sydney this weekend.
Andrew Jones, SCT Logistics Head of Motorsport Programs, said: “With the experience and knowledge that Jack gained during his four years as a primary driver in the Supercars Championship, he will form an instrumental part of our endurance campaign for the Tailem Bend 500 and Bathurst 1000 later in the year.
“His desire and enthusiasm to be back racing again has really been infectious and in my mind says a lot about his strength of character.
“While the roles have been switched since the last time Jaxon and Jack shared driving duties together, I think they will be at their strongest this year and look forward to having SCT Motorsport’s strongest campaign in 2025."
