Supercars x SAS Australia Special launches on 7Plus

Supercars drivers Garth Tander, Macauley Jones and Will Brown will face their toughest off-track challenge yet.

The three drivers will feature in a Supercars x SAS Australia Special, which will air on the Seven Network.

In a test like no other for the drivers, Tander, Jones and Brown will tackle the SAS Australia challenge, with the special episode launching on Friday on 7Plus.

The Supercars recruits will endure a series of physical and psychological tests from the real SAS selection process.

Just like the hit program, the drivers will be under the direction of elite ex-Special Forces soldiers Ant Middleton, Mark 'Billy' Billingham, Jason 'Foxy' Fox and Ollie Ollerton.

The drivers will be subject to extreme physical endurance and interrogation in the one-off special episode.

There, viewers will discover which driver pushes past his fears and limits in the hope of passing SAS selection.

"The Supercars x SAS Australia Special is the result of several months of hard work by a very small team in the Supercars media department," Supercars Senior Producer of Television, David Tunnicliffe said.

"A special mention must go to our lead Camera Operator Ben Green and Editor Jake Sissons.

"We are very proud of what we have produced and we’re sure viewers will be too. 

"We couldn’t have done it without the help of SAS Australia Executive Producer Sylvia D’Souza, Kate Amphlett from Seven Publicity, our brave drivers Garth, Macauley and Will [who perhaps trusted me a little too much] and of course the incredible Directing Staff of Ant, Billy, Ollie, and Foxy.

"Now I’ve had an insight into the world of SAS Australia, it makes watching the show on Seven, even more, intriguing and entertaining.

"I can guarantee anyone undertaking the challenge is the real deal and there is no playing up for the cameras."

Exclusive behind-the-scenes footage and interviews will be released on the Supercars website next week.

The Supercars x SAS Australia Special can be watched on 7Plus from Friday September 17 and the Supercars YouTube channel on Monday September 19 from 10am AEST.

The gripping new season of SAS Australia is on Channel 7 and 7plus on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays at 7.30pm AEST.
