Supercars champion joins Jamie Whincup to tackle international stars in Sydney event

Will Brown has been announced as an entrant in the 2025 Race of Champions, where the new Supercars champion will take on some of the world's best in Sydney next March.

Brown, who clinched the Repco Supercars Championship last month, has been named alongside Jamie Whincup and rally star Molly Taylor in Team Australia.

Sydney will become the first host city in the Southern Hemisphere to host the Race of Champions. The March 7-8 event will take place at Sydney’s Accor Stadium, which famously hosted keynote events in the 2000 Summer Olympics.

The Race of Champions sees drivers from all championships compete head-to-head in identical cars on the iconic Race of Champions parallel track, where according to organisers, the winner is decided by driver skill alone.

Fittingly, Supercars stars past and present will represent Australia, with four-time Bathurst winner Whincup making his third Race of Champions appearance.

Brown and Whincup join a star-studded line-up, which features four-time Formula One champion Sebastian Vettel and 10-time Grand Prix winner Valtteri Bottas.

Also locked in are nine-time WRC champion Sebastien Loeb, motorsports and stunt star Travis Pastrana, Mick Schumacher, Kiwi rally driver Hayden Paddon and Rallycross champion Johan Kristoffersson.

"I grew up watching the Race Of Champions and always thought it was such a cool event with so many great stars of the sport," Brown said,

"To be invited to represent Australia together with Jamie and Molly for the first ever ROC event in this country is a little surreal to be honest and really caps off what has been an incredible year for me."

The Race Of Champions will run over two nights on a purpose-built asphalt race track, including a 43-metre crossover bridge. The ROC Nations Cup takes place on the Friday, with drivers paired in teams based on nationality to bid for the title of 'World's Fastest Nation'.

The Saturday night will see the individual Race Of Champions, where teamwork goes out the window with drivers chasing individual glory and the 'Champion of Champions' title.

"Jamie has done a couple of ROC events before, so I will be picking his brain on what to expect and to get a few tips," Brown added.

"I am sure he will be helpful when we are racing for Australia on the Friday night, but I am not so sure he will be that available when we are going head-to-head for the Champion of Champions trophy the following night.

"There has already been an incredible list of drivers announced and I know there are a few more surprises to come.”

"I think Australian race fans are in for an amazing experience and I cannot wait to not only compete for my country, but to do it in the Sydney Olympic Stadium in front of a home crowd."

Brown will compete in the Race of Champions event following the 2025 Repco Supercars Championship season-opener in Sydney, which is scheduled for February 21-23. Tickets are on sale now.
