The tests will mark a crucial opportunity for teams and drivers to prepare for the new season.

Triple Eight Race Engineering, Dick Johnson Racing and Matt Stone Racing are all running on home soil.

Team Sydney, which is currently based at Yatala and revealed its new liveries on Thursday, is also present.

To the end of the first hour, MSR young gun Zane Goddard was top of the tree with a 1:09.0257s, a mere 0.0147s ahead of teammate Jake Kostecki.

DJR’s new driver line-up, Anton De Pasquale and Will Davison, have already turned laps.

De Pasquale set the early running of the DJR duo, firing in a 1:09.1232s to the end of the opening hour.

Triple Eight duo Jamie Whincup and Shane van Gisbergen, with the latter now in Australia, have also completed early running.

Van Gisbergen's Bathurst-winning co-driver Garth Tander took over the car ahead of the second hour.

New Team Sydney duo Fabian Coulthard and Garry Jacobson are also on track.

The two Commodores were yet to turn laps in anger in the first hour, completing 10 laps between them in the opening 55 minutes.

The 2021 season will commence at the Repco Mt Panorama 500.

Tickets for the event are on sale now.
