De Pasquale and Le Brocq penalised

Supercars rookies Anton De Pasquale and Jack Le Brocq have received post-race penalties for separate incidents in the final leg of the Watpac Townsville 400.

De Pasquale has been docked 35 points for what was deemed to be reckless driving in a late-race collision with Michael Caruso at Turn 11.

Caruso’s Nissan received extensive front-end damage when it spun into an infield tyre barrier after rear-end contact from De Pasquale’s Holden.

The two drivers later had differing views of the incident, with Caruso left displeased that the youngster had not spoken to him post-race.

De Pasquale remains the top rookie in 19th in the standings, 31 points ahead of Tekno Autosports’ Le Brocq, who received a 15-second time penalty after Sunday’s race.

Le Brocq was adjudged to have committed a careless driving offence in his tangle with Will Davison at Turn 3 on lap 66 of 70.

The penalty moved the rookie from 11th to 18th in the race result.

Davison half-spun due to the contact but was able to continue, only to be knocked out of the race completely a short time later after more contact, this time with James Golding.

Neither driver was deemed wholly or solely to blame for that incident – a verdict also reached in an investigation during the race over lap two contact between Todd Hazelwood and Andre Heimgartner.

Walkinshaw Andretti United, Erebus Motorsport and Tickford Racing were meanwhile fined $1,000 each after draining bath water into the paddock, which is against the regulations.
