Supercars to conduct final round of 2024 category testing
The Bend Motorsport Park to host tyre, steering rack testing
Final test of 2024 set for Tuesday December 12
Supercars will conduct category testing at The Bend Motorsport Park in coming weeks, ahead of the 2025 season.
A Team 18 Chevrolet Camaro and Tickford Racing Ford Mustang will undertake category testing at the South Australian venue on December 12.
There, the cars will undertake tyre testing and steering rack testing, along with additional engine drivability calibration.
The balance of testing throughout 2024 has been to validate findings and apply them to different circuits.
Supercars is taking this latest opportunity ahead of the start of the season in Sydney, with an all-in SuperTest to take place at Sydney Motorsport Park before the opening round on February 21-23.
The new-for-2025 specification Dunlop tyres have been tested at a number of different circuits through the season, with drivers and cars from different teams putting the new rubber to the test.
There will be two dry compounds of Dunlop's control SP Sport Maxx tyres in use in 2025, namely the Soft and Super Soft, and the Wet Weather tyre.
Both compounds of tyres will be used on the Saturday of all Super440 events, with each race and corresponding qualifying session to be held on different compounds.
Both races on the Gold Coast and at Sandown will also be split between compounds, with Saturday running on the Super Soft, and Sunday on the Soft.
The Soft tyre will be the sole compound eligible for Sunday's 200km race at Taupo, Perth, Darwin, and Ipswich. The Soft will also be used for all races at Sydney, Melbourne, Townsville, The Bend, Bathurst, and Adelaide.
The Super Soft tyre will be used for Sunday running at the Tasmania Super440.
Tickets for the Sydney event, and the majority of 2025 events, are on sale now.
