Fast Facts - Queensland Raceway

1. This year marks the 22nd visit by the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship to Queensland Raceway since the first back in 1999.

The circuit hosted two rounds – a sprint and the pre-Bathurst 500km endurance race – in both 1999 and 2000. A total of 44 Supercars races have been held at the venue.

2. The most successful driver at Queensland Raceway is Craig Lowndes with 12 race wins, his last coming on the Sunday in 2016.

Garth Tander is next in the order with five wins; he and Lowndes are the only drivers to compete in every single Queensland Raceway Supercars round.

3. The polesitter has won just two of the last 12 Supercars races at Queensland Raceway. Chaz Mostert (Sunday 2015) and Scott McLaughlin (Saturday '17) are the only two to convert ARMOR ALL Pole Position into victory in that time.

4. Championship leader McLaughlin has now taken 41 career Supercars Championship pole positions, tying him with Mark Skaife for fourth on the all-time list in the history books.

He’s now just one pole behind Lowndes, though Jamie Whincup still holds the record with 77.

5. The lowest grid position for a Supercars race winner at Queensland Raceway is ninth. Mark Skaife started from that position to win Race 2 (a reverse-grid race) for the Holden Racing Team in 2006.

6. Mark Winterbottom will make his 205th Supercars Championship round start when he lines up in Ipswich. He moves past Dick Johnson for 12th on the all-time championship round starts list.

7. The closest race-winning margin in Supercars at Queensland Raceway is 0.2423 seconds from Race 1 in 2008 when James Courtney led home Winterbottom to win his very first Supercars Championship race for Stone Brothers Racing.

8. This year marks the eighth year of Coates Hire sponsoring the Queensland Raceway round of the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship. 

The event has been known as the Coates Hire Ipswich SuperSprint since 2015 with various other race distances from '11 to '14.

9. Wildcard entrant Kurt Kostecki will run with the #42 at Queensland Raceway. It’s the first time since Bathurst in 2000 that this number has been used in a Supercars Championship race.

This weekend is not his first appearance at Queensland Raceway in the championship; Kostecki filled in at Ipswich for the injured Lee Holdsworth and Preston Hire Racing in 2016.

10. Anton De Pasqaule and Richie Stanaway are the only Supercars debutants at Queensland Raceway given their fellow championship rookies Jack Le Brocq, James Golding and Todd Hazelwood all competed in Ipswich last year as wildcard entrants.
