Dual Townsville Shootouts for MSR driver

Jack Le Brocq is buoyed by the high of dual Shootout appearances in Townsville.

Le Brocq reached both ARMOR ALL Top Ten Shootouts at the NTI Townsville 500.

He has reached consecutive Shootouts before, having reaching three in a row across the Sydney and Bathurst events last year.

Le Brocq finished sixth in Saturday’s Shootout, before backing it up with seventh on Sunday.

His best streak of top 10 qualifying results is four, having done so for Tickford Racing in 2020.

However, doing it with Matt Stone Racing is proof of driver and team development after a tough start to the season.

Le Brocq’s highlight heading to Townsville was a career-best second in Race 5 qualifying in Tasmania.

The difference in Townsville was that he converted it into a result, Le Brocq finishing 10th on Saturday.

It all came as team owner Stone was absent due to the birth of his third child.

“Qualifying speed is good, it’s so crucial at the moment,” Le Brocq told Supercars.com.

“We’ve really started to improve on that, Darwin and Townsville, we had really good speed.

“We still need to find a bit more in race trim, we fell away a bit in both races.

“The team is moving forward, we’ve having a good time.”

Le Brocq is now 17th in the standings, having been as low as 25th and last of the full-time drivers in Perth.

It’s a different story for teammate Todd Hazelwood, who has qualified no better than 16th since Perth.

Hazelwood was a fixture of the top 10 in the championship in the early rounds of the season.

The 2017 Super2 champion’s last top 10 came in the Perth finale in May.

The 2022 season will resume at the OTR SuperSprint on July 30-31. Purchase your tickets now.
