Jack Perkins reunites with James Courtney for 2024 enduros
Blanchard Racing Team signs Perkins for Sandown, Bathurst
Courtney/Perkins delivered 2015 Gold Coast win, 2019 Bathurst podium
Jack Perkins will reunite with James Courtney for the 2024 Supercars enduros, with the Blanchard Racing Team announcing the signing of the second-generation racer.
Perkins, who revealed his exit for Erebus Motorsport earlier this week, has been picked up by BRT for the Penrite Oil Sandown 500 and Repco Bathurst 1000.
The son of six-time Bathurst winner Larry Perkins, Jack raced with Will Brown and Erebus between 2021 and 2023, with a best finish of fourth in this year’s Sandown 500.
Perkins, 37, will link up with 2010 series champion Courtney, who joins BRT from Tickford Racing in 2024.
Courtney will steer the #7 Snowy River Racing Mustang, with rookie Aaron Love to race the #3 CoolDrive Mustang.
Perkins is the fifth co-driver locked in for 2024, with David Russell remaining at Erebus, Michael Caruso at Team 18, and Garth Tander at Penrite Racing. Scott Pye, meanwhile, has joined Triple Eight.
The Courtney/Perkins pairing previously competed at the Holden Racing Team/Walkinshaw Andretti United between 2015 and 2019.
The duo won the Sunday race at the 2015 Gold Coast 600, before combining to third in the 2019 Bathurst 1000, which was Perkins’ first Great Race podium.
"I’m thrilled to be joining Blanchard Racing Team and my mate James Courtney in the Snowy River Mustang for the 2024 Sandown 500 and Bathurst 1000,” Perkins said.
"I’ve been friends with Tim Blanchard and the Blanchard family since we were both kids racing go-karts together. I really like what Tim and John are putting together with BRT.
“Their expansion to two cars and commitment to Supercars racing is excellent and I’m hoping to make a small contribution to help drive the family owned team to the front of the grid and onto the podium at the endurance races.
"JC and I have been team mates before, for five years with great success, winning on the Gold Coast together and standing on the podium at Bathurst with third place back in 2019.
"We remain close friends and would love nothing more than another podium together and to do it with BRT would be very special."
BRT team Co-Principal Tim Blanchard was keen to welcome Perkins to the fold as the Ford squad readies for its first campaign as a two-car team.
“We are excited to have Jack join us alongside James for the 2024 enduro campaign, as we continue to build Blanchard Racing Team,” Blanchard said.
“He has a wealth of knowledge that we believe will contribute to helping us push the team forward."
BRT will open its 2024 account with 2024 pre-season testing at Winton Motor Raceway with Southern teams on February 7.
The 2024 Repco Supercars Championship will commence at the Thrifty Bathurst 500 on February 23-25.
