PremiAir Nulon Racing has announced the signing of Richie Stanaway, with the New Zealander to join the team for the 2025 Repco Supercars Championship.

Stanaway will replace incumbent driver Tim Slade, who recently announced his retirement from full-time Supercars racing.

Earlier this year, Penrite Racing announced the Kiwi would not return in 2025, with the Grove squad signing Super2 champion Kai Allen.

Stanaway seemed set on missing out on a 2025 seat, but his Grove exit ultimately kicked off a sequence that was headlined by Brodie Kostecki signing with Dick Johnson Racing.

With Slade retiring, a vacancy at PremiAir Nulon Racing emerged, with Stanaway becoming the lead candidate for the drive.

PremiAir Nulon Racing becomes Stanaway's fourth full-time team, following Tickford Racing (2018), Garry Rogers Motorsport (2019) and Grove Racing. Stanaway will also return behind the wheel of Triple Eight machinery, after winning last year's Great Race with Red Bull Ampol Racing.

“I could not be more excited about this opportunity to join PremiAir Nulon Racing," said Stanaway, who won the 2017 Sandown 500 and 2023 Bathurst 1000.

"The passion and enthusiasm held by Peter and Carmen Xiberras and the entire team is absolutely undeniable, and the commitment they have shown in the three short years they have been a part of the Supercars championship is impressive.

“The results of that are really starting to show with their first podium coming at Sandown, and I look forward to hopefully being a part of many more great results to come from next year."

Stanaway and Golding reunite, having been teammates at GRM in 2019. Golding currently sits fifth in the championship, just ahead of Stanaway's current teammate Matt Payne.

Team owner Peter Xiberras was delighted to welcome Stanaway to the team, and was also determined to send Slade out on a high.

“There is no doubting Richie is exceptionally talented – you don’t have a CV like his or win the Bathurst 1000 by accident after all," Xiberras said.

"And while he was forced to endure an early exit at Sandown this year, it was clear that he has what it takes, especially when the weather gods are against you.

“We look forward to having Richie join our team alongside Jimmy Golding and seeing what we can achieve together.

“In the meantime, we would once again like to thank Tim for all of his efforts and contributions to our team over the past two years. He has been a true gentleman of the sport.

"We look forward to continuing to work with him and Jimmy as we all look to finish out the current season in the best way possible."

The 2024 Repco Supercars Championship will resume at the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 on October 25-27. Tickets for the event are on sale now.
