Scott Pye signs two-year enduro deal with Triple Eight
Triple Eight will confirm enduro pairings in due course
Pye raced for Triple Eight in Super2, finished second in 2012
Outgoing Team 18 driver Scott Pye has signed a deal with Triple Eight Race Engineering to race for the team in the enduros from 2024.
Pye has inked a two-year deal with Triple Eight that will see the 33-year-old race for the team in 2024 and 2025.
The deal returns Pye to Triple Eight, with the driver racing for the team as part of its Super2 program in 2012, finishing runner-up to Scott McLaughlin.
Pye made his championship debut in the 2012 enduros with Paul Morris Motorsport, and has been a full-time driver since 2013. Pye’s best results came with WAU, which includes a win at Albert Park in 2018, and Bathurst podiums in 2017 and 2018.
He also claimed podiums with DJR Team Penske and Team 18, and has a best championship finish of seventh in 2018 with WAU.
The Victorian has raced for Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport, DJR Team Penske, WAU and Team 18, where he has been since 2020.
The arrival of David Reynolds at Team 18 for 2024 saw Pye squeezed out of a full-time drive, and with Shane van Gisbergen to race in NASCAR’s three tiers next season, Triple Eight swooped on its former young driver.
The Pye announcement follows the signing of Will Brown as a full-time driver of Red Bull Ampol Racing in 2024, alongside Broc Feeney. Triple Eight also recently re-signed Craig Lowndes until the end of 2025 in the team’s enduro wildcard entry.
Triple Eight will announce its 2024 enduro season driver pairings in due course.
"I am really excited by the opportunity to return to the Triple Eight family from next season as a co-driver,” Pye said.
"It certainly feels like a bit of a homecoming for me having started my Supercars journey in Super2 with the team.
"I am looking forward to working with the unbelievable group of people in their team and am excited for the opportunity to go to the biggest races of the year with a real chance at success.
"You’re only as good as your team and I am as driven as ever to help Triple Eight continue their winning tradition."
Jamie Whincup has raced alongside Feeney since 2022, and the duo won the Penrite Oil Sandown 500 together.
"I’m really excited to welcome Scotty back to the Triple Eight family since his last stint with the team over a decade ago," Whincup said.
"Scotty’s experience is evident and his addition to the team as a co-driver for Red Bull Ampol Racing next year will be invaluable.
"He still has plenty to prove in the category and with the support of an incredible team around him, I think he will flourish.
"There will no doubt be a bit of chatter regarding who Scotty will team up with in 2024, but those are conversations we’ll have once we kick off the 2024 season. Nonetheless, he will compliment either of our full-time drivers massively.”
Pye will round out his time with Team 18 at the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 and VAILO Adelaide 500.
