Red Bull Ampol Racing reveals 2023 livery
Red Bull Ampol Racing has revealed its striking new look for its first season racing Gen3 Chevrolet Camaros.
The team has shifted to a predominantly blue and red livery, which was designed by long-time Holden designer Peter Hughes.
Hughes also designed the team’s blue and silver test livery which ran at Queensland Raceway earlier this month.
Shane van Gisbergen and Broc Feeney both ran the team’s new cars, combining for approximately 650km of mileage.
The team will also be backed in 2023 by ACDelco, Ampol Amplify Premium Fuels, Chevrolet Racing, HP, Harvey Norman, New Holland, National Storage, Supercheap Auto, ToolPro, Wurth, Quad Lock and Local Legends.
Van Gisbergen and Feeney will roll out next Wednesday for the all-in test at Sydney Motorsport Park.
The two Triple Eight Camaros will then test at Queensland Raceway across February 27-28.
"I think the new cars look cool, especially the shape of it,” van Gisbergen said.
"The colours on the car are quite a big change for us this year as the last few years have been quite similar. The blue and red, mixed together with the white roof looks tough.
"The design and engineering team at Triple Eight have done a huge amount of work for the category along with a couple of other teams.
“But our mechanics have also done some crazy hours the last couple of months. The whole team has done a great job to get these cars ready the last couple of years.
"When we rolled out at our first test day, the cars ran faultlessly, so that was awesome and a testament to their work.”
Feeney added: "It’s pretty cool to see my first brand new Gen3 Supercar. The cars look awesome this year.
"I think we needed that big refresher, and the livery looks awesome as well. I’m just really looking forward to getting on track now.
"Both of our cars ran so smoothly at our shakedown at Queensland Raceway. The team has put so much effort in and I can’t emphasise that enough.
"They had a short summer break and have basically been in the workshop day and night ever since. For the cars to run so smoothly was awesome."
Team Principal and Managing Director Jamie Whincup reiterated that the Gen3 project was the team’s biggest achievement yet.
Triple Eight steered the development of the Gen3 Camaro alongside Supercars.
The team is aiming for a third straight drivers'/teams' championship double.
Van Gisbergen won the 2021 and 2022 drivers' championships, as well as the 2022 Repco Bathurst 1000.
Feeney, meanwhile, heads into 2023 off the back of his maiden race victory at the VALO Adelaide 500 last December.
"It’s a massively exciting era for the sport,” Whincup said.
"We’ve been working on this Gen3 project for three years now. As soon as COVID hit the world, Triple Eight realised this was the time to develop a new product and we need it as quick as possible.
"We started the journey then, and here we are now. I couldn’t be prouder of the people at Triple Eight.
“The hours, dedication, blood, sweat and tears… it’s without doubt Triple Eights biggest achievement – second to none. It’s something we’re so proud of and will be a part of our legacy.
“The cars look great. I might be biased, but I think it’s the best-looking livery we’ve had.”
The 2023 Repco Supercars Championship will commence at the Thrifty Newcastle 500 on March 10-12.
