Gray after more wins after Bathurst breakthrough
Rylan Gray is determined to keep momentum going after breaking new ground in the Dunlop Series in Bathurst.
The Tickford Autosport driver became the youngest ever Super2 round winner at last weekend's Repco Bathurst 1000.
Aged 17 years, 10 months and 21 days, Gray undercut Kai Allen's previous record of 18 years and 13 days, set in Townsville last year.
Gray also became just the ninth teenager to win a Super2 round, following Allen, Broc Feeney, Paul Dumbrell, Scott McLaughlin, Ryan Wood, Dean Canto, Matt Payne and Chaz Mostert.
The Tickford junior will turn 18 in November following the season-ending VAILO Adelaide 500, and only debuted in Super3 at last year's season finale following his 17th birthday. On debut, he finished second and fourth.
Come 2024, and Gray rose to Super2 as part of a three-strong Tickford outfit, with a brace of third-place finishes in Bathurst helping him to his first round win.
"It's pretty cool to do it at the Mountain," said Gray, who expects to go around with Tickford again in 2025.
"I knew we were quick coming back here, we've had speed all year, just haven't really put it together in qualifying, and we did that this weekend.
"The results showed where if we could put it up the front, we could stay there.
"It's pretty intense stuff in Super2, so to come in my first year run up the front and get a round win is pretty cool, and hopefully there's lots more."
The 2024 Dunlop Super2 Series will conclude at the VAILO Adelaide 500 from November 14-17. Tickets for the event are on sale now.
