Walkinshaw Andretti United has bolstered its engineering line-up with the arrival of the experienced Raymond Lau.

Lau will be a supporting role, helping with systems and data, in Tasmania as the team aims to continue its championship push with Chaz Mostert.

He arrives after a stint with the Blanchard Racing Team, which came to an end at the NTI Townsville 500 in July.

Lau was Race Engineer for 2010 champion James Courtney, who also moved from Tickford Racing in the off-season.

He shifted to BRT in the off-season, as Tickford downscaled from four to two cars. Previously, he engineered Thomas Randle in 2022 and 2023.

Lau also reunites with Mostert’s Race Engineer Sam Scaffidi, who also moved from Tickford in the off-season.

However, Lau will be on Ryan Wood’s car in Tasmania, with the young Kiwi racing at Symmons Plains in a Supercar for the first time.

“It’ll be my first time racing here in Tassie, so there will be a lot to get my head around quickly, but Friday’s practice should help a lot with that one-hour timeframe, so I’m looking forward to it,” Wood said.

“Not sure I’ll be packing a pair of jandals this weekend, getting the tyre up to temp as quickly as possible in qualifying will be a real focus for everyone, so it’ll be interesting to watch how everyone attacks it.

“Really keen to get back behind the wheel and show off these new liveries, the cars look awesome in photos but even better in person.”

Tasmania track action will commence Friday with Practice 1 at 2:20pm local time.
