Queensland Supercars teams hit the road as cyclone nears
Triple Eight, PremiAir Racing departed for Melbourne on Thursday
DJR, MSR departed on Friday morning ahead of Tuesday bump-in
All four Queensland-based Supercars squads have now hit the road for Melbourne amid the looming arrival of Tropical Cyclone Alfred.
Bump-in at the Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit is set for Tuesday, with Cyclone Alfred expected to reach landfall on Saturday morning, having initially been forecast to arrive n Thursday.
Triple Eight Race Engineering, Dick Johnson Racing, Matt Stone Racing and PremiAir Racing have all dispatched their transporters for Melbourne.
Banyo-based Triple Eight hit the road on Thursday, with Arundel-based PremiAir Racing following suit in the afternoon.
Stapylton-based DJR and Yatala-based MSR have since packed their transporters and hit the road on Friday.
The DJR and MSR trucks left together with a plan to take an inland route in a bid to avoid coastal flooding, with the teams based near the Pacific Motorway.
The Cyclone Alfred weather system is beginning to make an impact, with heavy rainfall lashing the Gold Coast on Friday.
Track action at the MSS Security Melbourne SuperSprint will commence on Thursday March 13.
