Dayne Warren has outlasted Jarrad Filsell in a tight Cash Converters Supercars Eseries season opener.
Warren, the defending Pro Series champion, won from pole position at Winton Motor Raceway.
However, the Walkinshaw Andretti United driver’s run to victory was far from smooth.

Warren was beaten off the line by Erebus Motorsport spearhead Filsell.
Filsell kept Warren at bay in the early stages before the latter pitted on lap 4.
The undercut proved supreme, with Warren regaining the lead as Filsell exited the lane.

The two Commodore drivers were joined at the hip for the remainder of the 17-lap race.
The win margin between was just 0.34s, with Warren picking up where he left off in 2021.
Cooper Webster impressed for Team 18 in third, and was just 1.4s from victory.
Jake Burton and Corey Shepherd rounded out the top five.
It came after Warren pipped Filsell to pole by a scant 0.07s, with Jordan Caruso starting third.
Caruso came home 10th, having made contact with Andrew Gilliam on the opening lap.
The only other major incident came when Griffin Gardiner was pushed off the track by Josh Anderson.
Anderson would cross the line eighth, with Gardiner 14th.
The second of six races will be held next Wednesday at Sandown.
The Sandown race will be an enduro, with All Stars and Pro Series drivers to share a team car.
