Points leader cuts laps in PremiAir Supercar
PremiAir Nulon Racing a customer team of Triple Eight
Championship leader Will Brown has turned laps in a PremiAir Nulon Racing Camaro at Queensland Raceway in testing.
PremiAir Nulon Racing is a customer team of Brown's Triple Eight Race Engineering squad. As part of the technical deal, PremiAir is running turnkey Triple Eight-built Camaros in Supercars, with Brown jumping in Tim Slade's car to provide feedback.
The Peter Xiberras-owned team joined Triple Eight at Queensland Raceway on Tuesday, along with fellow Sunshine State-based teams Dick Johnson Racing and Matt Stone Racing.
Brown was allowed up to 10 laps in the car under testing rules, and got into the #23 PremiAir Nulon Camaro immediately after Slade hit the track.
Brown and engineer Andrew Edwards then spent time assisting the PremiAir squad following the running, before hitting the track for category testing in a 2023-built, 2024-liveried Red Bull Ampol Camaro, which was later driven by Super2 privateer Matt Chahda.
Drivers getting behind the wheel of rival team cars is nothing new. Notably, Scott McLaughlin drove an MSR Falcon in 2018, with engineer Ludo Lacroix also assisting the then young team.
Lacroix is now Slade's engineer on the #23, with the veteran driver 21st in the standings and James Golding 12th after the first 10 races of the season. Golding's fifth-place finishes in Bathurst and Taupō are the team's best through four rounds.
Gun recuit co-driver David Russell also spent his first track day with PremiAir Nulon Racing, having joined from Erebus Motorsport earlier this year.
Triple Eight is also running its wildcard Camaro for Craig Lowndes and rookie Cooper Murray, who will make his main game debut at the Darwin round next month.
Tickford Racing and Penrite Racing will be in action tomorrow at Winton as teams utilise the break between Perth and Darwin.
The 2024 Repco Supercars Championship will resume at the betr Darwin Triple Crown on June 14-16. Tickets for the event are on sale now. International viewers can follow all the Supercars action on Superview.
