Concert, party and new podium boost OTR SuperSprint

The OTR SuperSprint is back in a big way in 2023, with three Supercars sprint races and a new concert to headline the annual visit to Tailem Bend.

The new Gen3 Supercars will make their South Australian racing debut at The Bend Motorsport Park on August 18-20.

This year’s trip to The Bend will feature an all-new podium position, bringing the fans closer to star drivers, as well as a post-race concert and street party.

The Saturday afternoon podium for Race 20 will take place nearby the stage for the Rocking the Murray concert, with The Choirboys and Kingswood launching into their live show straight after the podium.

Spectators will enjoy free pit paddock access, Level 2 balcony access, kids amusement rides and grandstands at Turn 1, 17 and 18.

The podium will be located in the Town Square activation area near the Porsche Carrera Cup garages.

The Murray Bridge Street Party will be hosted by The Bend and the Murray Bridge Council, with the free event to take place from 4:30pm to 6:30pm local time on Thursday August 17.

The party, which sees the closure of East Terrace adjacent the Bridgeport Hotel, will feature Supercars driver appearances and an autograph session, as well as support category car displays.

Local car clubs will also fill the street with classic vehicles for onlookers to enjoy.

Supercars will be supported at the OTR SuperSprint by Porsche Carrera Cup, Touring Car Masters, V8 SuperUte Series and S5000 Tasman Cup.

All supports categories will be on track on Friday August 18, with Supercars on track on Saturday August 19 and Sunday August 20.

"We are always looking for ways to bring the fans closer to the action and after seeing the success of the pit paddock podium at other events we wanted to try it at our annual hallmark event," The Bend CEO Alistair MacDonald said.

"We hope that the fans and event-goers get over to the Town Square for the podium, especially on Saturday night ahead of the Rocking the Murray Concert which is a proud addition to the event."
