Brad Jones Racing will deploy Jaxon Evans for another rookie test, with the Kiwi hoping the team has “secret sauce” to deploy in Darwin.

The New Zealander, who jetted off to Belgium mid-week after Perth, will lap his SCT Logistics Camaro at Queensland Raceway next week.

BJR rolled Evans out before New Zealand, where the team broke through for a win courtesy of Andre Heimgartner. Rookie Evans was also on the pace in New Zealand, suggesting the team found something during its test day.

“The plan is to head up to Queensland Raceway to get another Rookie Test under the belt before Darwin,” Evans said.

"We feel we learnt a lot more running at Queensland Raceway recently for our first Rookie Test, even though there was only one car running there on the day.”

The team dropped back in Perth, with Heimgartner’s 13th in Race 9 the best result across the four cars.

“At BJR, we have confidence in our cars looking after the tyres pretty well, but it wasn’t a strength we could use [in Perth],” Evans said.

“It’s back to the drawing board and we’ll have another test day under the belt to hopefully unlock some more speed – not just for myself, but for the team.

“We’ll keep working away at it and hopefully when we hit Darwin, we’ve got some more ‘secret sauce’ and we can be fighting towards the front where I think we deserve to be.”

Heimgartner is highest of the BJR quartet in 11th in the standings, albeit 82 points from fourth-placed Cam Waters heading to Darwin.
