Jordan Boys completed Winton test day on Tuesday
Boys confident in qualifying performance after positive test
35 of 41 Adelaide Super2 races have been won from front row
Jordan Boys was pleased to complete strong qualifying simulation work in his Winton test day in preparation for his VAILO Adelaide 500.
Boys, Erebus Motorsport and Image Racing have reunited for the season finale in Adelaide, with Jack Perkins sitting out next weekend’s event.
The Albury-born driver tested the #99 Shaw and Partners ZB Commodore on Tuesday, helping Boys reacquaint himself with an older-specification Supercar after racing a Gen3 Camaro in this year’s enduros.
Boys shared the #96 Pizza Hut Camaro with Macauley Jones at the Penrite Oil Sandown 500 and Repco Bathurst 1000.
The 26-year-old has five years of experience in Super2, and has claimed seven podiums and three wins. However, the laps proved crucial, with Boys eyeing top five pace.
Critically, Boys said he found comfort in the one-lap car, which will be crucial in Adelaide, where the winner has come from the front row in 35 of 41 races.
“Although we lost a lot of time with the rain yesterday morning, overall the test was really positive for myself and the team,” Boys said.
“We mainly focused on getting me back into the swing of things and I felt pretty comfortable straight away so the team and I are really happy with where we got to.
“We also got the chance to work on some qualifying simulation stuff which seemed to go really well and is something that’s going to be really important at Adelaide.”
Boys is getting more laps at Calder Park Motorsport Complex on Wednesday, with Image Racing and Erebus Academy running a driver evaluation day with a V8 Touring Car at the track.
Erebus CEO Barry Ryan added: "Erebus debuted in the Super2 series this year with Jack Perkins at the wheel and we will conclude with Jordan Boys in Adelaide,” Ryan said.
“Image Racing has been a huge support in the program with management, taking the car to the track and providing additional staff as required.
“We want to thank Terry and Dana Wyhoon for their commitment to our team, as well as our loyal partners in Shaw and Partners, SCTR, Coca-Cola, Snap-on and Metamark in our inaugural season.”
Dunlop Series action at the VAILO Adelaide 500 will commence on Thursday November 23.
