Mostert 'found answers' over tough weekend

'Still plenty of work to do before The Bend’

Chaz Mostert was buoyed by a stronger Race 20 following his Saturday woes.

Mostert crossed the line fifth in the NTI Townsville 500 finale on Sunday.

The Walkinshaw Andretti United driver held a podium position late on.

However, he was cleared by Cam Waters, with James Courtney demoting him to fifth.

It was a smart recovery relative to Saturday, with Mostert slumping to ninth.

“Much better end to the day today,” he said.

"We went aggressive halfway through that final stint to see if we could sneak on to the podium.

“It wasn’t to be, but still, better way to finish the weekend.”

Mostert heads to The Bend fifth in the points, albeit 579 points behind Shane van Gisbergen.

Considering how he started the Townsville weekend, Mostert was pleased with the progress.

"I think we found some answers over the weekend,” he said.

“Still plenty of work to do before The Bend, but definitely went the right way with the car from Friday to Sunday.

"Was an awesome weekend up in Townsville, always a super cool event, but eyes forward to The Bend now."

The 2022 season will resume at the OTR Bend SuperSprint on July 30-31. Purchase your tickets now.
