Triple Eight, Penrite Racing retain first four garages
Reigning champs Erebus move to third, DJR fourth
DJR was 10th in standings after Grand Prix
A strong rebound in New Zealand has helped Shell V-Power Racing Team become the biggest winner of the new Live Pit Lane rule so far in 2024.
While nothing has changed at the top of town, the rest of the pit lane is set to have a different look when Supercars returns to Western Australia next month.
The season began at Mount Panorama with the pit lane order allocated off the 2023 championship standings, with reigning champions Erebus Motorsport heading the field.
From Round 2 onwards, the pit lane order will be allocated by Supercars based on the final classification of the team points report of the previous event.
In New Zealand, runaway teams' championship leaders Red Bull Ampol Racing occupied Pit Bay 1, with Penrite Racing occupying Pit Bay 2.
Dick Johnson Racing's tough start to 2024 had the team 10th overall heading to New Zealand, but a stunning turnaround has seen the Ford squad jump to fourth, with Erebus moving from fifth to third.
Walkinshaw Andretti United will also move up one Pit Bay, with rookie Ryan Wood impressing on home soil. However, had Chaz Mostert not lost a wheel and missed out on a potential podium on Saturday, WAU would have left New Zealand in third, with the Ford team just 35 points behind Erebus.
Team 18 and Matt Stone Racing, meanwhile, have both dropped three places. Team 18 will move from third to sixth, and MSR from fourth to seventh. Nick Percat's tough weekend saw the AGP finale winner fall from fourth to sixth in the drivers' standings.
PremiAir Nulon Racing will also move from eighth to 10th in the order, with the team's weekend hampered by a Saturday DNF and Sunday fuel issue for Tim Slade, despite James Golding's big moves in both races.
There is plenty at stake in Perth, given the eight teams between third and 10th are covered by just 146 points, with drivers awarded 150 points for race victories at the next event, along with five additional fastest lap bonus points.
The new-look pit lane order will be locked in ahead of the upcoming Bosch Power Tools Perth SuperSprint on May 17-19.
