Episodes will premiere one week out from ITM Taupō Super400
Two-part docuseries delivers never-before-seen footage
Supercars will give fans an insider's look into the world of the five New Zealand-born drivers, with a two-part documentary series to launch on television and social media this weekend.
Road to Taupō, powered by Repco follows the journey of rookie drivers Ryan Wood and Jaxon Evans, Adelaide 500 winner Matt Payne, race winner Andre Heimgartner and defending Repco Bathurst 1000 champion Richie Stanaway as they build up their own preparations for next week’s inaugural ITM Taupō Super400.
Produced by Supercars and AirTime Media, the two 20-minute episodes offer viewers an exclusive glimpse into the behind-the-scenes action of New Zealand's Supercars’ talent, who have been eyeing off the Taupō round since it was first announced in 2023.
Premiering exclusively on Supercars' official website and YouTube channel from 6:00pm AEST on Saturday April 13, Road to Taupō, powered by Repco delivers never-before-seen footage from the 2024 Repco Supercars Championship and candid interviews with each of the drivers.
From race days to personal anecdotes, this series provides an authentic portrayal of the challenges and camaraderie among the quintet of current Kiwi drivers.
In the first episode, viewers will witness Wood's debut at a Supercars test day at Winton, alongside insights into his dynamic longtime friendship with youngsters Payne. It also features both drivers’ dramas at the season opening Thrifty Bathurst 500 and never-before-seen footage of what Chaz Mostert said to Payne after their crash at the Melbourne SuperSprint last month.
Episode 2 delves deeper into the lives of Evans, Heimgartner, and Stanaway, offering a raw look at their journey to the Taupō event. From pivotal decisions to intense race days, viewers will experience the highs and lows of these Kiwi drivers as they chase victory.
