V8 Supercars has a new player on the grid for this weekend’s Coates Hire Ipswich 360.
Jeep (Fiat Chrysler Group) has entered the V8 Supercar Championship – with the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT as the new official Medical Car, ensuring the fastest and most reliable emergency response to on-track accidents.
V8 Supercars Medical Delegate Dr Carl Le is the man in the hot seat of the Jeep Medical Car as the first response to any accident, small or large.
Dr Le is a Melbourne based Emergency Doctor who also serves as the MD at every V8 Supercar event, treating some of the most minor and major accidents on and off the track.
The Jeep Medical Car takes over from Porsche as one of the most critical elements in fast response time. Seconds can sometimes be the difference in an emergency situation.
It also houses all of the first response equipment needed to treat and transport patients quickly.
Jeep’s Marketing Director Mark McCraith said it was proud to supply such a vital vehicle to V8 Supercars.
“The Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 is a great vehicle, it has all the performance elements required to react quickly and effectively in any situation. We are looking forward to seeing it on the track,” he said.
Dr Le said having Jeep on board was fantastic news, and thanked Porsche for its generous supply of Panamera and Cayenne vehicles in the past five years.
“The Medical Car is one of the most important parts of what can be very high level response teams,” Dr Le said.
“We need to get their quickly, safely and with everything we need to make quick decisions for any level of incident or accident. That is critical.
"I'd like to thank Porsche Cars Australia and Jamey Blaikie (Porsche Motorsport Manager) for their support over the last five years with the supply of the Medical Car.
“The Porsche Cayennes and Panameras that we've had each year have been fantastic. Now I look forward to at least as many years in the fantastic Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8.”
The Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 makes its debut at the Coates Hire Ipswich 360.
