New teams enter PIRTEK Pit Stop Challenge fight

26 May 2022
Four teams covered by just 11 points after Winton

Shell V-Power Racing Team is at risk of losing its PIRTEK Pit Stop Challenge lead after Winton.

The BP Ultimate Safety Car didn't make an appearance at the Pizza Hut Winton SuperSprint.

As such, all three races counted for Pit Stop Challenge points, and three teams are within striking distance of the leaders.

Shell V-Power Racing Team, Walkinshaw Andretti United, Brad Jones Racing and Tickford Racing are covered by just 11 points.

WAU and BJR's crew on the Andre Heimgartner and Bryce Fullwood cars are six points from the lead.

The Shell V-Power crew did score full points for the Saturday race with a quick stop for Anton De Pasquale.

Erebus Motorsport secured full points for Race 14 courtesy of a fast stop for Brodie Kostecki.

However, it was BJR that made the biggest leap; the team had the third fastest stop in Race 14, and the fastest in Race 15.

Critically, the Race 15 stop was on Andre Heimgartner's car; he would finish third, and jumped Shane van Gisbergen in the pits.

The Tickford crew for Thomas Randle and Jake Kostecki was second in Races 13 and 15.

WAU was third quickest courtesy of a Chaz Mostert stop in Race 13; stops for Nick Percat were second quickest in Race 14, and third in Race 15.

The 2022 Pit Stop Challenge will continue at the upcoming Merlin Darwin Triple Crown.

Tailem Bend, Sandown and Pukekohe comprise the rest of the challenge.

Teams will go head to head in pursuit of $20,000 and the coveted 'Golden Rattle Gun Trophy'.

The live finals will be held at October's Repco Bathurst 1000.

The 2022 season will resume in Darwin next month. Purchase your tickets now.
