  • Broc Feeney now 198 points behind, Cam Waters 350 adrift

The 2024 Repco Supercars Championship is building towards a tantalising climax at the VAILO Adelaide 500, with four drivers well in contention heading into enduro season.

Will Brown has been the dominant force so far in the championship, maintaining his championship lead since Race 4 at the Australian Grand Prix.

However, since the fifth event of the season in Darwin, the Red Bull Ampol Racing driver has seen what was a once comfortable advantage be whittled away by a rampant Chaz Mostert.

Brown was as far as 279 points ahead of Mostert after Darwin, but in the past six races the #25 Optus Mustang hasn't finished lower than fourth, including a clean sweep in Sydney.

That has seen Brown's once comfortable points lead crush to just 81 points heading into Sandown, but the gap was as little as 63 points after Saturday in Tasmania.

Race 18 could prove to be a pivotal race in the 2024 Supercars season, as Will Brown extended as points lead for the first time since Darwin in June.

It could also prove pivotal for Brown's teammate Broc Feeney, who got caught up in a costly collision with Thomas Randle.

Having swapped the points lead with Brown through the first four races of the season, the 21-year-old is now 198 points off the lead in third.

A podium finish went begging for Feeney last time out, with the reigning Sandown 500 winner losing 78 points to Brown in an instant.

Feeney Waters Tasmania 2024

After a nightmare start to the year saw Cam Waters haemorrhage 328 points to Brown in the first six races alone, the Mildura product has emerged as an outside contender as of late.

Waters has performed a similar trick to Mostert since Darwin, clawing back 165 points in the past six races to now sit 350 points behind Brown.

Whilst he is still more than an entire weekend's worth of points off the championship lead, Waters has always excelled at the enduros, and won races on the Gold Coast and in Adelaide last year.

The 2024 Repco Supercars Championship will switch to enduro mode at the Penrite Oil Sandown 500 on September 13-15. Tickets for the 60th anniversary event are on sale now.

Live coverage can be found on Foxtel, with live streaming available on Kayo. Highlights will be shown on the Seven Network and 7plus. International viewers can follow all the action on Superview.
