Broc Feeney offers rare insight into early beginnings
Teenager forged path with simple whiteboard plan

Broc Feeney has offered rare insight into his pathway to becoming a Supercars championship contender, which began with a simple plan on a whiteboard.
At 21, Feeney is already an 11-time Supercars race winner, and is currently fighting for this year’s championship.
Feeney’s journey to the top began at 15, when he marked down his four-year plan to Supercars with father Paul and mentor Paul Morris.
Before he had even stepped into a Supercar, Feeney had created a clear pathway to the main game, which came to fruition in 2021 when he was announced as Jamie Whincup’s replacement.
The first step was Toyota 86, with Feeney — a junior karting whiz — becoming the youngest race winner in the category at the age of 15 in 2018.
He sealed a move to Super3 in 2019, and he won the title. That led to a Super2 seat with Tickford Racing, before shifting to Triple Eight for 2021. He duly won the title, and was rewarded with the Triple Eight drive.
“I feel like I did work my arse off to get to where I am,” Feeney said on the Keegan and Company podcast.
“We literally drew it on a whiteboard and went, ‘Okay, we want to get here, that’s Supercars. How long have we got to get there? We’ve got four years. How are we going to do it?’
“We just planned it out, and fortunately we went well enough that we could tick each box.”
Feeney connected with former Triple Eight boss Roland Dane during a Hyundai Excel event as motorsport returned from COVID-19 in 2020. Feeney, Morris’s son Nash and Anton De Pasquale raced, with Brodie Kostecki lead mechanic.
Feeney’s initiative saw the then teenager drive the crew from Sydney, through Port Macquarie and into Queensland, putting the rising star on Dane’s radar.
Come 2021, and the team put Feeney in the most prized seat in Supercars, but Feeney wasn’t nervous: “I was ready. This was all I’d dreamed of.
“In my head, I was like, ‘I’m going to make it, I’m going to get there’. But I probably didn’t expect to go straight to the best team in pit lane, nor did anyone, it was a bit of a surprise.
“When it happened, it was like, ‘I’m ready for this, this is what I've worked for, this is everything I do to get to this position’. To be in a position where I can win races and championships, is all I've wanted.
“I signed my contract when at 18, and I was replacing who’s now my boss, but is the greatest of all time, Jamie Whincup.
"He’s the GOAT in Supercars, and I was the guy replacing him, some rookie… for me to come in, there were lots of big shoes to fill.”
Feeney has five wins, more than any other driver, heading to the
The Triple Eight driver is 153 points behind teammate Will Brown, with Ford star Chaz Mostert 105 points from the series lead.
