Exciting Super2 prospect Cooper Murray has secured his full-time promotion to the Repco Supercars Championship, signing with Erebus Motorsport for 2025.

Murray has signed a multi-year deal with the reigning Supercars Teams’ Champions, replacing outgoing reigning champion Brodie Kostecki.

Murray turned heads on his main game debut in a wildcard Triple Eight Camaro in Darwin, qualifying for the Top Ten Shootout in just his second career qualifying session on the Sunday.

The 23-year-old will partner up with seven-time Bathurst winner Craig Lowndes at the enduros in the Triple Eight wildcard, performing double duties alongside his Super2 commitments.

Murray has consistently been one of the fastest drivers in the Dunlop Series since winning on debut last year at Newcastle, going on to finish fourth in his rookie season.

2024 has been a more difficult season for the Eggleston Motorsport driver, only scoring points in two of the six races held in this season’s Dunlop Series to sit 21st in points.

However, Murray has two pole positions in this year’s Super2 Series, and his raw speed combined with an Erebus connection that goes back to a driver evaluation day in 2022 will see the Melburnian pilot the #99 Camaro next season.

The announcement of his maiden full-time campaign in the Repco Supercars Championship is the realisation of a childhood dream for the former Porsche Carrera Cup star.

“It’s a very exciting time for me and the Erebus Motorsport team. We’re all looking forward to working together in the years to come. I’ve been working towards this moment since I started racing karts when I was 10, so I’m ready to make the most of it,” said Murray.

“I can’t thank Barry, Betty, and the whole crew enough for placing their trust in me to drive the #99 Camaro. This is an amazing opportunity—getting your foot in the door in the main game is tough, and I’m incredibly grateful for this chance.”

Erebus Motorsport team owner Betty Klimenko is excited to continue her team’s history of developing young talent, and also believes incumbent Jack Le Brocq will be a great reference for Murray.

“With the signing of Cooper, we’re reaffirming our commitment to developing young talent. With Jack now taking a leadership role in our team, it’s the perfect time to introduce a young driver who can learn and grow alongside him,” said Klimenko.

CEO Barry Ryan also welcomed the signing of Murray, and believes he has the right blend of youth and experience in his driver lineup for 2025.

“Betty and I are very excited to bring another top talent into the main Supercar series. Cooper has been in our sights for several years, and his drive and determination to succeed is exactly what we want in a driver,” said Ryan.

“Jack's experience, maturity, and speed make him the ideal teammate for Cooper. I’m confident they’ll push each other to excel both on and off the track.”

Ryan also thanked the outgoing Kostecki for his successful tenure at the team, and reaffirmed his commitment to the reigning champion for the remainder of 2024.

“We’re immensely proud of everything Brodie and the team accomplished during his time with Erebus and wish him all the best in his future with DJR.

“With four rounds still to go, our team is 100% committed to the enduro campaign and determined to finish 2024 on a high. We're ready to give it everything we've got.”

Murray’s signing continues Erebus’ rich history of developing young talent, with Anton De Pasquale, Will Brown, and Kostecki all making their solo main game debuts with the team.

Murray is also the second Eggleston Motorsport driver to secure a Supercars promotion for 2025, following Kai Allen’s signing at Grove Racing.
