  • Erebus reveals Chiko naming rights for Bathurst

  • Iconic Aussie brand to back Brodie Kostecki/Todd Hazelwood car

  • Kostecki/Hazelwood among favourites for Great Race

Brodie Kostecki and Todd Hazelwood's Repco Bathurst 1000 campaign will come with backing from iconic Australian brand Chiko, Erebus Motorsport has confirmed.

The reigning champions will bring back a beloved name to Australian motorsport for the Great Race, with Kostecki and Hazelwood's #1 Chevrolet Camaro to carry Chiko colours.

Chiko, which is also a partner of Supercars, famously backed the Ryan McLeod/Wayne Wakefield Commodore at the 2000 Bathurst 1000.

A mechanic on that particular Holden was Barry Ryan, who is now Erebus' CEO.

“Having worked on the McLeod/Wakefield Chiko car, it’s fantastic to see Chiko back at Bathurst, this time with Erebus. The brand is part of our motorsport culture, and we’re thrilled to bring it back to the Mountain,” Ryan said.

"24 years on, we’re excited to see the Chiko partnership come together again. We can’t wait to unveil the livery for the #1 car at the Mountain, Brodie is returning to Bathurst as a man on a mission and Todd is such an incredibly strong co-driver to have as part of our team."

The Kostecki/Hazelwood pairing looms as one of the strongest for Bathurst, having raced in the top three before an electrical issue brought their day to an early end.

“It’s really cool to have a legendary brand like Chiko on the car for Bathurst. It’s a race with so much history, and to be driving with the Chiko livery is pretty special. Todd and I are ready to make it one to remember," said Kostecki, a two-time Bathurst podium finisher.

Hazelwood added: "Bathurst isn’t just home to the great race; it’s also home to the Chiko Roll. To see Chiko return to the Mountain feels like a homecoming for both the brand and the fans. Brodie and I are honoured to carry such a legendary part of Aussie culture into this year’s race, and we’re ready to give it everything we’ve got."

Katie Saunders, Senior Director of Marketing, APAC, said: "We are thrilled to announce our exciting new partnership with Erebus Motorsport at the 2024 Repco Bathurst 1000.

"Our iconic brand, Chiko, known for its rich history in Aussie culture, is joining forces with the dynamic and high-performing Erebus Motorsport team. This collaboration is set to create an unforgettable experience for fans, both in the stands and on the track."
