Two famous Holden Commodores have been reunited in Bathurst ahead of next weekend’s Great Race.

The legendary Holden Dealer Team ‘Big Banger’ VK Commodores have been placed side-by-side in the National Motor Racing Museum in Bathurst.

The Commodores claimed a one-two in the 1984 Bathurst 1000, with Peter Brock and Larry Perkins victorious.

The cars, dubbed ‘the last of the Big Bangers’, were built by the Holden Dealer Team ahead of the 1984 endurance season.

They contested just four events before the Group C era came to an end, but enjoyed a glorious day at Mount Panorama with a famous one-two form finish.

Brock and Perkins raced car #05 to the win, with the #25 driven by John Harvey and David Parsons.

With the Group C era ending, and international Group A regulations arriving in 1985, the #05 went to the museum.

The #25, meanwhile, carried on racing before being restored, albeit as the #05.

The Bowden family purchased the Harvey/Parsons car and restored it to its original #25, and it arrived in Bathurst on Friday to be reunited with the sister #05 car.

Fans will be able to see the cars at the museum, which is located outside the final corner of the circuit, during race week at Mount Panorama. They are part of the National Motor Racing Museum’s Group C exhibit.

Supercars action commences at the Repco Bathurst 1000 on October 10. Tickets are on sale now.
