David Reynolds is set to race with a new chassis at the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 following his 32G Bathurst qualifying crash.

Reynolds crashed his TRADIE Beer Chevrolet last Friday at Mount Panorama, with the Bathurst winner escaping injury in the major hit.

The car wasn't as lucky, with the crash recorded at 32G, triggering an overnight rebuild.

Team 18 burned the midnight oil and got the car ready for Saturday morning, but the race didn't go to plan for Reynolds and Warren Luff, who finished 24th.

Team 18 has fast-tracked the build of its spare chassis ahead of the Gold Coast, with the decision made late on Sunday following the Great Race.

Team Principal Adrian Burgess said the decision was made to ensure Reynolds has competitive machinery for the Gold Coast, where he broke through for victory last year.

"The effort from the entire team at Bathurst was nothing short of incredible, although unfortunately for very little reward,” Burgess said.

"Without them we simply wouldn’t have been able to roll out a car for the Great Race, and it’s the same crew who have come together and committed to building a new car in five days for the next event.

“After further assessing the chassis after the race on Sunday, it was clear we needed to start afresh on the Gold Coast, and the team didn’t hesitate, they’re all in to ensure we deliver the best possible car for Dave next time out.

"Fortunately, we had a spare chassis in the workshop, although completely bare, and the moment we made the call, everyone rallied together.

"The energy in the workshop is awesome, and it’s all hands on deck to get this car built and in the truck to Queensland by Sunday.”

Team 18 has already stripped the existing car, with extra parts already on their way to team headquarters. Burgess admitted it’s a “big ask” for the team to get it done after a taxing Bathurst weekend, but hailed the camaraderie, with Reynolds contributing to morale.

“It’s been amazing to see how the team has come together and it speak volumes to their characters,” Burgess added.

"There’s a real sense of camaraderie here, everyone’s pulling in the same direction, for each other and for Dave. He was in yesterday handing out coffees, and the vibe is just fantastic.

“We’re all excited to get to the Gold Coast and put on a strong showing.”

The 2024 Repco Supercars Championship will resume at the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 on October 25-27. Tickets for the event are on sale now.
