Cars from Triple Eight Race Engineering, Walkinshaw Andretti United and Erebus Motorsport will be used for category testing this week, as Supercars maximises the Olympic break.

A Triple Eight Camaro will complete a homologation engine test at Queensland Raceway on Tuesday, with Erebus testing a steering rack at Winton Motor Raceway on Wednesday.

Across at The Bend Motorsport Park, Walkinshaw Andretti United star Chaz Mostert will conduct testing of the new development tyre on behalf of Supercars, and also engine mapping changes from AVL testing.

All the while, the first phase of AVL engine testing completed in the United States last week, before the second phase commences in the coming days.

Tuesday’s brief engine test at Queensland Raceway is an opportunity to validate recent findings from AVL in an at-track environment.

The Triple Eight Camaro will run new engine maps that were developed during recent testing on the world-class dynamometer at the AVL facility in Plymouth, Michigan.

Jack Le Brocq’s Erebus Camaro, meanwhile, will be complete running on a steering rack developed by Tickford Racing. Teams have used the Sportech rack since the introduction of the Gen3 rules last year and tested the Tickford rack over recent months.

“Erebus are doing some testing on the Tickford steering rack, Triple Eight and WAU are testing new engine that was developed on the AVL,” Supercars General Manger of Motorsport Tim Edwards told Supercars.com.

“On the engine side of things, it’s testing the new mapping to make sure that it behaves as they hope it will behave.

“It was a big two weeks in the US and there is a lot of data to digest. It’s important to validate what we’ve learned so far on the AVL dyno."

The 2024 Repco Supercars Championship will resume at the NED Whisky Tasmania SuperSprint on August 16-18. Tickets for the event are on sale now.
