Supercars’ two most recent drivers’ champions have both hailed the “fantastic” Sydney Harbour Bridge cross, which was a showpiece of the 2025 Repco Supercars Championship launch.

Seven Gen3 Supercars — driven by Will Brown, Brodie Kostecki, Chaz Mostert, Matt Payne, Cam Waters, Nick Percat and Anton De Pasquale — crossed the bridge on Sunday morning.

The cars, under NSW Police escort, made their way from Macquarie Street in the CBD, to Olympic Drive north of the bridge.

Hall of Fame inductee Colin Bond, Sunrise presenter Katie Brown, the Sunset Bros, sports media personality Kat Sasso and boxing star Brock Jarvis also rode shotgun in the cars.

The stunning marked the official launch of the new Supercars season, ahead of the Thrifty Sydney 500 at Sydney Motorsport Park from February 21-23.

While the cross wasn't taken at the 275km/h speeds he'll reach at Sydney Motorsport Park next weekend, Brown was delighted at the chance to take his newly renumbered Red Bull Ampol Chevrolet across one of the world's most iconic landmarks.

“I’ve driven some cool places, but to drive over the Sydney Harbour Bridge this morning was pretty cool, that's for sure,” 2024 champion Brown told media.

"It would have been cool if we were up to a bit more speed and doing some skids or something, but all in all it's pretty cool.

“Didn't get to have a great look around, we're sort of making sure we're in formation and getting the photos and everything, but did try to take it in.”

Drivers took part in a media call underneath the Harbour Bridge in Kirribilli, before the cars were taken back to Sydney Motorsport Park.

“It was fantastic to drive the Shell V-Power Mustang across the Sydney Harbour Bridge,” said 2023 champion Kostecki, who got behind the wheel of his new Dick Johnson Racing Ford last week, .

“It's pretty cool to bring the Repco Supercars Championship and be able to drive it across the Sydney Harbour Bridge. What a picturesque view we have behind me.”

Kostecki poked fun at the fact he was "just trying to behave," given his Shell V-Power Mustang, courtesy of a sponsorship announcement between DJR and Personalised Plates Queensland, carries number plates.

On the cross itself, Kostecki joked: "I had some pretty unstable guys around me. So, I was making sure I wasn't getting run into or anything like that. We don't want to damage the car before the first round.

"I'm probably one of the only cars with a number plate on the front, so I was trying not to get a speeding fine from a camera. Just trying to behave."

The Thrifty Sydney 500 is proudly supported by the NSW Government through its tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW. Tickets and corporate experiences for the Thrifty Sydney 500 are available now via Supercars.com.
