Boost Mobile Top 5 Shootout for Dunlop Super2 Series
For the first time in its 25-year history, the Dunlop Super2 Series grid will be decided by a Top 5 Shootout, to take place at the upcoming Tasmania Super 440.
As previously announced in Supercars shakeup of race formats for 2025, the Boost Mobile Top 10 Shootout will feature ahead of the Sunday race for the Repco Supercars Championship at the Tasmania Super 440.
Confirmed today is the first ever Boost Mobile Top 5 Shootout for the DS2 Series, also to be held on the Sunday of the Symmons Plains event.
Supercars General Manager of Motorsport Tim Edwards said the Tasmania Super 440 was the perfect venue to debut the DS2 Shootout.
“Tasmania has some of the most passionate motorsport fans in the country, and we’re always looking for ways to bring them closer to the action,” Edwards said.
“With a Boost Mobile Top 10 Shootout in Supercars and a Boost Mobile Top 5 Shootout in the Dunlop Super2 Series, fans at Symmons Plains will witness high-pressure, single-lap qualifying battles that will set the stage for Sunday’s races.
“It’s an exciting new element that will give drivers a chance to shine and add another layer of unpredictability to the weekend.
“We have two born and bred Tasmanian drivers in the Dunlop Super2 Series this year in Lochie Dalton and Campbell Logan so fans will be hoping local talent can shine in the Shootout ahead of Sunday’s race.”
After the opening round of the 2025 Dunlop Super2 Series, 22-year-old Eggleston Motorsport driver Jordyn Sinni leads the standings after a maiden race win and a 7th placing at the Thrifty Sydney 500.
Gold Coaster Cam McLeod is second just six points behind, while Triple Eight rookie Ben Gomersall is third, 15 points behind Sinni.
The Tasmania Super 440 will run 9-11 May at the historic Symmons Plains Raceway near Launceston.
This year’s Tasmania trip will feature four support categories: the Dunlop Super2 Series, Touring Car Masters, V8 SuperUtes and Aussie Racing Cars, as well as the fourth round of the 2025 Repco Supercars Championship.
