Campbell Logan set to race at home for first time in a national category
WAU driver eager to put on a show for home crowd in first Tasmanian Super2 round since 2018
First Top Five Shootout in category history set to spice up qualifying for Sunday's race
Walkinshaw Andretti United young gun Campbell Logan is excited for a chance to drive a Supercar on home turf at the upcoming second round of the 2025 Dunlop Super2 Series.
Super2 returns to Symmons Plains in Tasmania for the first time since 2018 at the Tasmania Super 440 from May 9-11, with the round to feature an exciting new addition for the development series.
For the first time in the 25-year history of Super2, the grid for Sunday's race will be determined by a Top Five Shootout, adding an extra element of action to what many predict could be a wild weekend.
Logan is one of two Tasmanians in the Super2 field this season, with Tickford Autosport's Lochie Dalton also hailing from the Apple Isle.
Speaking at yesterday's announcement that Supercars will be racing in Tasmania until 2027, Logan told media that the opportunity to race in front of friends and family will be a career highlight.
"It's pretty cool to have a home round in Tasmania," said Logan.
"This is the track I first drove a race car at, so it's pretty special to come back and to drive in Super2, and race a V8 Supercar around my home track.
"It'll be a pretty exciting opportunity to race in front of all my supporters, but mostly my family as well.
"I think it will be definitely a pinch myself moment. I grew up here racing Excels, and I've driven a lot of different car over here in my journey, but to finally be able to race a V8 Supercar, not just drive it here, will be something very special to me, and very special to my family and the people who have helped get me here.
"Without them, I wouldn't be able to do this, so it's going to be something very exciting for myself."
Having had plenty of experience at the tight circuit near Launceston as he made his first steps in cars, Logan expects that fans can look forward to plenty of action, whilst also hoping he can make the most of his home ground advantage.
"It's always action-packed here at Symmons Plains, and down at the hairpin is always the tightest corner in the country.
"To be able to come here in Super2, which is a crazy category for racing, I'm excited to be able to see what I can do, and use a bit of my local knowledge and see if that will pay off."
18th in the 2025 Dunlop Super2 Series after a difficult opening round in Sydney with a brand-new Commodore, Logan has his eyes set on the Sunday Shootout as he aims to turn around his season.
"I think it's very special that we get to have our own Top Five Shootout this year at Symmons Plains, we watch these guys in main game all the time doing Top Ten Shootouts and you just want to be a part of it, it looks so awesome."
"To be able to hopefully have the chance qualify in the top five at Symmons Plains, and then go again in the Shootout would be a pretty awesome privilege."
Having raced on the mainland since joining the Toyota 86 Series in 2021, the 21-year-old is looking forward to giving those who have supported his career a chance to see what he's capable of firsthand.
"Hopefully it's not too busy, but I expect there to be a lot of people coming out, and that's what I'm really excited for, to be able to hopefully put on a show for all the people who have supported me over the years I've been racing interstate.
"And to be able to show them that this is who I am, and this is what I love doing, and this is who I want to be as a person, I think that will be really special to be able to put on a showcase for everyone who has been supporting me."
Jordyn Sinni is the current points leader after the opening round, with tickets for the Tasmania Super 440, featuring Round 2 of the 2025 Dunlop Super2 Series, available now.
