Teams and drivers have come together at Hidden Valley Raceway to celebrate the inaugural Indigenous Round.

This weekend's Merlin Darwin Triple Crown doubles as the first ever official Supercars Indigenous Round.

All 27 cars and drivers gathered on the pit straight as they prepare to recognise First Nations people.

All cars will carry Indigenous-themed liveries, each with different stories behind the artworks.

Will Davison, who will make his 500th start on Saturday, was taken aback by the spectacle.

"It's magical to see the whole category get behind this Indigenous Round," the Shell V-Power Racing Team driver said.

"To see the teams fully embrace it, respecting and honouring First Nations people, is really special.

"Each artist has done magical work and they've got a story to tell. It's a real honour."

Penrite Racing veteran David Reynolds added: "I love it.

"The more teams that embrace it, the cooler it is.

"It looks special and fantastic."

Local driver Bryce Fullwood, whose family is based five minutes the circuit, reiterated the "connection" Darwin has with First Nations people.

"Being the inaugural Indigenous Round is really special," he said.

"Anyone who's lived in the Territory for a long time can understand the connection we have with the Indigenous people.

"Every car and artwork has a story to tell."

It comes after the Darwin CBD lit up on Wednesday night with the Night Transporter Convoy.

The convoy was preceded by a Welcome to Country ceremony.

A driver/rider signing at Darwin Waterfront will take place on Thursday.

The event will be delivered by Northern Territory Major Events Company (NTMEC) on behalf of the Northern Territory Government.
