2024 Toyota Gazoo Racing Australia GR Cup champion Max Geoghegan will graduate to the Dunlop Super2 Series in 2025 in an expanded three-car Erebus Academy effort to be run by Image Racing.

Geoghegan, the grandson of five-time Australian Touring Car Champion and inaugural Supercars Hall of Fame inductee Ian 'Pete' Geoghegan, will join incumbent Erebus juniors Jobe Stewart and Jarrod Hughes in a third ZB Commodore for the 2025 season.

The Sydneysider, who also won the Toyota Gazoo Racing Australia Scholarship Series in 2024, is eagerly anticipating the chance to make his debut in Supercars competition in front of his home crowd in a month's time.

“I am very proud to say I am joining the Erebus Academy and Image Racing for Super2 in 2025,” Geoghegan said.

“I look forward to the challenge ahead and believe I am in the best place to tackle it head-on. We have worked well together so far, and I can’t wait to get hands-on and into the thick of it. “Erebus Academy has such a strong history of nurturing talent, and it’s exciting to be a part of that journey. This is the perfect environment to develop as a driver, and I’m ready to give it my all and see where it takes me.”

Erebus Motorsport CEO Barry Ryan has also welcomed the news, which he believes reinforces their commitment to developing young talent from a grassroots level all the way to Supercars.

“Max has proven he has the talent and attitude to make it to the top of the motorsport tree," Ryan said.

"His impressive two championships in 2024 in the Toyota 86 Scholarship and GR Cup were outstanding. I am excited to see Max progress and show his talents in Super2 in 2025.”

“The Erebus Academy is our commitment to building the next generation of motorsport talent. From karting to Supercars and beyond, we’re working to create clear pathways for young racers to succeed.”

Geoghegan will join second-year Super2 drivers Stewart and Hughes in a car formerly driven by reigning Repco Supercars Champion Will Brown in 2022 in the main game.

Hughes finished fourth in last year's Super2 Series, claiming the rookie of the year honours, whilst Stewart finished fifth, with the pair confirmed to be stepping up as co-drivers with Erebus at The Bend 500 and Repco Bathurst 1000.

The 2025 Dunlop Series kicks at the Sydney 500 Opening Round from February 21-23. Tickets to the event are on sale now.
