Reigning Repco Supercars champion Brodie Kostecki’s switch from Erebus Motorsport to Dick Johnson Racing has officially been confirmed.

Kostecki will line up alongside DJR incumbent Will Davison for 2025, with news of Kostecki’s signing coinciding with news that Davison has been re-signed for next season.

Confirmation of Kostecki’s signing comes two days after current DJR driver Anton De Pasquale confirmed a surprise move to Team 18 to replace Mark Winterbotton.

Next season will be the first time since 2020 that the Stapylton team will employ the services of a Supercars champion, and is the clearest sign yet of their intentions to return to the top of the Supercars Championship.

The announcement of Kostecki’s signing with DJR is the latest chapter in what has been a whirlwind rise to the top of Supercars for Kostecki.

After starring in Super2 with the family Kostecki Brothers Racing team, Brodie made his Supercars debut in a KBR enduro wildcard in 2019 alongside cousin Jake Kostecki.

Kostecki was then signed to partner De Pasquale at the 2020 Bathurst 1000 with Erebus, famously forcing Jamie Whincup into a race-ending mistake early in the race.

That performance led to a full-time promotion for 2021, with his rookie season finishing in fine style with a third at Bathurst alongside David Russell and ninth in the standings.

Last year Kostecki won a remarkable maiden championship in only his third full-time season, prevailing in a season-long battle with Shane van Gisbergen and taking six wins and pole at Bathurst.

Having had a difficult title defence this season with Erebus, the reigning champion is looking forward to beginning a new chapter in his Supercars career.

“I am excited to join the Shell V-Power Racing Team, a team with such a rich history of success. This partnership represents a new chapter for me, and I look forward to working alongside Will and the entire team,” said Kostecki.

Kostecki also brings experience from the lower ranks of NASCAR, where he spent his junior career racing against the likes of current Cup Series star Bubba Wallace.

Team owner and Supercars Hall of Fame member Dick Johnson AM welcomed the announcement of Kostecki joining his team.

“Brodie is one of the top drivers in the series and we’re excited to bring him on board the Shell V-Power Racing Team,” said the three-time Bathurst winner.

“He’s an impressive young man and I’ve certainly got a soft spot for anyone who has as much mechanical sympathy and understanding of the car as he does.

“With the combination of Will and Brodie, we look forward to chasing wins and returning to the top next season.”

Fellow team owner Dr Ryan Story AM echoed the remarks of the five-time ATCC champion, believing that the reigning champion can push the team back to the top step.

“Our 2025 line-up is one of the best on the grid and a clear statement of intent from us and the commitment we have to our organisation, partners and supporters for the future. Together, Will and Brodie will push each other further and make each other better,” said Story.

Davison will return for his fifth consecutive season at DJR, and what will be his eighth season with the team that gave him his first full-time drive in 2006.

“I’m proud and excited to continue with the Shell V-Power Racing Team which feels like home and holds a special place in my heart," said the two-time Bathurst winner.

"We know we have a strong foundation within our group, and we will be pushing and doing whatever it takes to get ourselves back on top. I’m looking forward to working with Brodie, I know he’ll be a great addition to the DJR family.”

Dr Ryan Story AM also thanked the outgoing Anton De Pasquale for his four-year tenure with the team, which has wielded eight wins, 16 podiums, and a Bathurst podium last year with Tony D'Alberto.

“We acknowledge and thank Anton De Pasquale for his contribution to the team and wish him well for the future. The hard decision was to let Anton go, the easy decision was to pair Will and Brodie together."
