The deciding race for the Larry Perkins Trophy could be even more chaotic, with rainy weather forecast for Sunday in Melbourne.

The first three days of the March 13-16 event have been held in hot, dry conditions, but that is set to change come Grand Prix race day.

There is a high chance of rain from midday, with a rainy front expected to cross the area in the afternoon.

Race 7 of the 2025 Repco Supercars Championship is set to commence at 10:25am local time.

Drivers will be greeted by cloudy conditions amid a morning, followed by a cool and windy change during the late morning with possible rainfall from 8mm to 20mm.

Current forecasts predict a very high chance of showers, most likely in the morning and afternoon, as well as the chance of a thunderstorm.

Per Rule D17.5, a car is only permitted to use wet tyres in practice, qualifying or a race if that session has been declared wet by the Race Director. Teams are not permitted to remove wheels/tyres on the grid at any time unless changing from dry tyres to wet weather tyres, or vice versa.

With no pit stops and a short pre-race procedure, teams will be looking to the skies to make the right call, should rain fail to hit Melbourne before the start of the race.

Rain could benefit Larry Perkins Trophy points leader Will Brown, who will start 21st on Sunday: "Let’s hope it rains tomorrow, and we will see what we can do.”

Brad Jones Racing driver Bryce Fullwood, who will start eighth, said: “There’s going to be some rain, so we will shift focuses and look at that and hopefully we will be able to salvage something good out of that race."

Team 18 driver Anton De Pasquale, who will start ninth, added: "Looks like we might get some rain tomorrow, so who knows what’s in store."

Fullwood's teammate Macauley Jones added: “With the weather, its looking like it is going to be a rainy day which will mix it up and potentially cause even more chaos, so we will see how that plays out."
