  • Will Brown on streak of 13 consecutive rounds with a podium

  • Shane van Gisbergen went record 18 straight rounds between 2020 and 2021

  • Brown needs to podium at next six rounds to break van Gisbergen's record

The ultra-consistent Will Brown continues to rack up trophies, and the reigning champion is on course for a slice of Supercars history.

The Triple Eight Race Engineering driver claimed finishes of fifth, third and second at last weekend's Thrifty Sydney 500 - Opening Round, and sits second in the points.

While Tickford Racing rival Cam Waters was the toast of the town with three wins, Brown put together another consistent weekend to keep himself in the discussion.

Remarkably, it was Brown's 13th consecutive round with at least one podium finish, dating back to the 2024 season opener at Mount Panorama.

The Queenslander is now equal fourth on the all-time list regarding consecutive rounds with a podium finish, and is behind three drivers destined for Supercars Hall of Fame honours.

Shane van Gisbergen leads the way with 18 consecutive podiums, in a streak that began at the 2020 Darwin Triple Crown and ended at the fourth Sydney event in 2021.

Had van Gisbergen no suffered a tyre puncture late in the 2021 Bathurst 1000, the Kiwi could have ended with a remarkable streak of 31 rounds, given he claimed at least one trophy at the first 11 rounds of 2022.

Scott McLaughlin went 15 straight rounds with a podium across the 2018 and 2019 seasons, while Mark Winterbottom went 14 straight across 2011 and 2012.

Brown equalled McLaughlin's streak of 13 rounds with a podium across the 2017 and 2018 seasons.

For Brown to break van Gisbergen's record, he needs to score a podium at the next six rounds in Melbourne, Taupō, Tasmania, Perth, Darwin and Townsville.

The 2025 Repco Supercars Championship will resume at the Melbourne SuperSprint, which will feature at the Formula 1 Louis Vuitton Australian Grand Prix 2025 on March 13-16.
