Dick, Steven and Jett to steer Mustang

Three generations of Johnson will take to a Shell V-Power Racing Team Mustang.

Supercars legend Dick Johnson will be joined on Monday with son Steven and grandson Jett.

It forms a rare chance for all three Johnsons to steer current Supercars machinery.

The historic track action will take place at Queensland Raceway on Monday morning.

Eponymous team owner Johnson, 77, won five Australian Touring Car Championships and three Bathurst 1000s.

The Supercars Hall of Famer won 30 races for his own team; only Scott McLaughlin has won more races for the famous team.

Son Steven took the reins of the famous #17 following Dick's retirement in 1999.

Steven raced for the team on a full-time basis until 2012, and later became a Touring Car Masters champion.

Father and son raced together at Mount Panorama in 1998 and 1999; they finished fourth in the latter.

Steven famously won on the streets of Canberra in 2001, and finished third in the 2007 Bathurst 1000.

Both results came with his famous father's #17 on the door.

Steven’s teenage son Jett is currently competing in Trans Am.

Last year, the youngest Johnson won the TA2 Northern Series title.

Jett, who made his car debut in 2019, is currently 17th in this year's Trans Am standings.

Much of this season's circuits are new to the youngest Johnson, although Monday will provide familiarity.

The third-generation driver won the third and final TA2 round at Queensland Raceway last year.

The Ipswich circuit also boasts the name of his grandfather on the pit straight wall.

DJR Mustangs, under the Shell V-Power Racing Team moniker, are second and fourth overall in this year's Supercars season.

Anton De Pasquale is second, with Will Davison fourth. Davison recently won at Wanneroo Raceway.

The Shell V-Power Racing Team is second in the teams' standings.

The special on-track activity will commence at 8:00am local time on Monday.

The Supercars season will resume at the Merlin Darwin Triple Crown on June 17-19. Purchase your tickets now.
