Saturday at the Castrol Townsville 500 is set to be even bigger than before, with qualifying now scheduled for that day.
V8 Supercars on Fridayupdated the Operations Manual with a number of changes, including the movement of qualifying from Friday to Saturday July 5, for the upcoming Super Street event.
Fans who attend on the Saturday will now see one 20-minute practice session, before two tight 10-minute ARMOR ALL Qualifying sessions to determine the grid for the afternoon's two 125km races.
The new Super Street format means that Townsville, similarly to the Clipsal 500 Adelaide, will stage two races on Saturday and one longer 250km marathon on Sunday.
Attendees will get bang for their buck heading to the circuit on Saturday, with a stellar concert that night with Australian superstars Jessica Mauboy and Vanessa Amorosi also on the bill alongside the V8 Supercars.
Following on Sunday will be one 20-minute qualifying session, with an ARMOR ALL Top 10 Shootout determining the final positions at the front of the grid.
Other than during the Pirtek Enduro Cup, all Saturday qualifying sessions have now been streamlined to 10-minute runs.
Friday attendees to the Castrol Townsville 500 will see the usual practice schedule of three 20-minute sessions, which means more time to catch drivers for autographs, see the stellar support categories, andexplore the paddock and off-track entertainment options. Paddock access is free with a platinum pass.
